As I wrote in my first post, here I will post updates from my journey with N900 while having its Trial (courtesy WOMWorld/Nokia).

OK, but let me tell you, my journey wont start just after receiving Nokia N900, but it has already started when I received email from WOMWorld/Nokia telling me that they are giving me opportunity to have its trial ! (So nice of them! )

So I was waiting eagerly for Nokia N900 to come ! Yes, much like my friend thunderror mentioned in his post.

So while waiting for it to arrive, I thought about things one should do before buying/trying Nokia N900 !

Ummm… yes you may call it as Zeroth impression of N900 from my point of view  (yes yes I will post about my first impression too ! But till then let me share my zeroth impression ! )

So lets begin the journey…

…and to enjoy this journey to fullest, here I suggest

9 Things to do before buying Nokia N900 …

1) Join (and/or) Login to Ebay : Yes Ebay. For buying N900? Nah… You forgot? We have to do 9 things before buying N900 ! So kindly control your excitement !

So Ebay for what? For selling something.  Yes to sell… your… NetBook

OK. OK. Let me come to the point now,

If you have read what people are saying on Internet about Nokia N900, you will come across people telling in unison that, how N900 is little powerhouse and can even replace netbooks !

Considering specs of N900, I am having feeling that yes, this little computer may kick out NetBook ! So dear Ebay, here we come !

(Ou , still in confusion about taking this move? OK soon I will post MY opinion about can “N900 be a replacement for NetBook ?” after I have my trial. So, stay tuned ! )

2) Start growing your fingernails : LOL yes you read right ! As N900 comes with Resistive Touchscreen you can use your finger nails to operate it !  I am sure girls will like it. LOL .

I have some female friends who avoid using iPhones just because of its having Capacitive Touchscreen which can be operated only with finger skin and so they cant grow their finger nails ! Hey ! its #truestory ! (also see this proof) LOL … Ah Girls na… !

(But then I worry after reading that N900 is easier to get scratched, how will I use its Unique “move stylus/finger in circular path to zoom a web page” feature?

Oh, you want to know how I am going to manage with it? OK I will let you know about this in next posts. So, stay tuned ! )

3) Opt for Unlimited data plan for your mobile Internet: Oh yes ! This is a must thing to do before buying N900 !

I believe that, buying such a phone with a browser which is no less than browser on your NetBook, and having limited Internet is like buying expensive car and having limited petrol !

Nokia N900 has browser which supports flash 9.4 !

So will you able to resist yourself from visiting Youtube ? And evrytime when Youtube will flash such warning message,  your eyes will watch videos but mind will be busy counting data transfer and calculating money drained !

So, a wise step will be opting for Unlimited data plan well in advance !

(…Or you can start hunting for free wifi hotspots in your city !  ;) Choice is yours !  )

4) Tour-de-Torrents` sites : Err… ?!

I mean, start downloading many many big big video files from torrents !

Nokia N900 comes with 32GB of inbuilt memory and also supports Up to 16 GB of additional storage with an external microSD card ! So space is surely not gonna be a problem ! So make collection of videos which you will love to watch while you are on the move… and did I mention it plays almost all video formats (well, if you manage to make it refuse to play any video format, don`t feel proud of yourself ! Because, N900 has already managed to have VLC Media Player running on it !) its really difficult to find any unplayable video format N900 for our day to day life.

Icing on the cake will be viewing movies using its Kickstand  Oh I am really looking forward to it !

5) Stop feeling Nostalgic about Old-School games : Yes we all miss those old school games In fact it makes me nostalgic !

But with our Oh-So-Hackable N900 with Maemo at its heart,  we can have many games using Emulators

So may it be Vgb , Vgba , iNes , sNES or Old PC (x86, DOS) , you can play them on Nokia N900 !

My hands are now itching to play classic Super Mario !

6) Make sure your FM receiver is working : I am sure that as Nokia N900 has 32GB+ memory ,with it, you will be able to carry all your songs` collection where ever you go.

Want to spread your collection of good music?  Well, N900 has FM Transmitter ! So you can turn your phone into a radio station and play songs which people in your vicinity can listen with FM Receiver.

Personally I like to spread good things and spreading good music also comes under it, so I really liked this feature. (In fact one of the reasons for me to buy my Nokia N79 is FM Transmitter !)

OK, imagine you traveling in car, bored with city radio stations… Here also this FM Transmitter comes very useful. With N900, you can not only transmit songs in your collection over FM but also you can listen to Internet radios ! Thats why I suggest your car music system has a working FM receiver

(Err… But as I see test results about battery, I also suggest you to have Car Charger with you.)

7) Plan your Holidays : OK. So if you follow my suggestions before buying Nokia N900, you will be having lots of movies downloaded from torrents. Your all songs` collection is ready to come with you. Your car is N900 ready. Oh so will you be able to resist yourself from going on holidays ?

Can you?

OK. Did I tell you that N900 has GPS Navigation !

Yes! Its using Ovi Maps (Some people claim it is even better than google`s Mobile Maps! But I will have to check it myself.)

So, thats why I think one  should plan holidays before buying N900 as there are chances you may get in the mood to go for holidays after you get fully loaded with N900

Oh still don`t want to?

Fine then. I am trying to plan my holidays during my 15 days with Nokia N900. And then don`t feel envy when i will post Geo Tagged pics from my Holidays taken with 5MegaPixel of Nokia N900 camera

8 ) Keep thinking, let ideas flow and sharpen your skills : Every person has some skills. But may be you haven`t got chance to show it to world in recent times. May be its because of unavailability of resources or lack of technical support or some other reasons.

But with Nokia N900 you can get many surprises ! May be it can help you in pursuing excellence in your skills, your hobby or many thing that interests you.

When we are talking about skills and hobby, I cant resist myself from mentioning a creative person`s “do it different” things using N900.

Before that, let me ask you, how many of you wanted to fly helicopter in your lifetime? Mmmm… But not everyone can have chance to fly a real helicopter. So how about a helicopter operated by remote control?

Well,  N900 can give you chance to fly remote control operated helicopter !

This creative and genius person who likes to do it different has used his N900 to fly a remote control helicopter !

I am sure you will be surprised to see his N900Copter project and his story behind it is also as interesting as his project !

He even has used his N900 as remote flash for photography!

So may it be your painting skills or your photography skill, or any different crazy idea (don`t you think “flying remote control helicopter” is crazy enough?!) from your mind,  N900 can help you !

So keep thinking, let ideas flow, sharpen your skills before buying N900

9) Carry many Handkerchiefs : Mmmm … As we know, N900 has resistive touch screen. Yes Nokia N900 has a high resolution 3.5″ resistive touch display (800 by 480 pixels). (The iPhone’s screen is only 480 by 320 pixels ) So I believe that videos and photos will shine on the N900 screen.

But what our friend symbiantweet has mentioned about its screen as fingerprint magnet in his in depth review makes me worried.

In unboxing videos of N900, I have seen that it comes with cleaning cloth. So see if you can manage with that one.

As I will be having trial device from WOMWorld/Nokia, I am going to be extra cautious about its handling. I understand its not mine and I have to return it in tip top condition to let others have opportunity to have its trial. So this last suggestion is specially applicable to me.

OK. Now I think I should pause here.

These are some things which I think one should take into consideration before buying Nokia N900. Fortunately, these things you can plan in advance but there  are some things like “to show off your feature packed N900 , in front of your friends” which u cant plan Better should not plan and leave it for some on the spot action

So, I am waiting for N900  with planned and unplanned things
